Keeping family traditions alive is extremely important, and it can also be a life-changing experience. At least it was in case of one fortunate woman from Maryland, who’ll be receiving $1.000 a week for the rest of her life after her in-laws inspired her to give lottery a chance.
They’ve been buying tickets ever since their son was a toddler, and this anonymous winner from Baltimore area decided to follow in their footsteps. Family tradition they started paid off big time, and the couple was jealous and excited at the same time after learning their daughter-in-law hit the jackpot.
The anonymous woman matched the winning numbers in the Maryland Lottery game Cash4Life on January 17th. She bought the golden ticket at High’s Convenience Store on Norrisville Road in White Hall, after dropping her daughter off for practice.
She realized her ticket was worth a fortune the very next morning, but had a hard time believing it at first. Her husband was very grumpy after she shared the lucky news, because he just came home from a 24-hour shift at the fire service. The rest of her family was head over heels, especially her mother-in-law, who jokingly accused her of using a lucky horseshoe to conjure her good luck.
Despite the fact they’re about to receive additional $52.000 a year, the fortunate winner and her husband aren’t planning to retire early, and they’ll mostly use the money to treat their kids and enjoy their lives to the fullest.
“I’m going to keep working. We’ve got three kids. Still, we’ll be able to have nice dinners and vacations forever! I guess we have to take the kids to Disney World. That’s what people do, right?” said the lucky lady.
